Blog EntryIRISH CREAM: AMARULA FOR SALESep 12, '07 6:07 AM
for everyone

Amarula
is a South African cream liqueur made with the fruit of the African Marula tree (Sclerocarrya birrea) which is also locally called the Elephant tree or the Marriage Tree.

Amarula was first marketed in September 1989.   It has the taste of slightly fruity caramel. Amarula has received consistently good reviews, with the caveat that, like most cream liqueurs, it is too sweet for some palates. It has become the second largest seller in the cream liqueur category after Bailey's Irish Cream, with particular success in Brazil. Recently, Amarula has attempted to break into the American market.

Irish Cream is a cream liqueur based on Irish whiskey, coffee, cream, and other ingredients. Well known brands include Baileys Irish Cream, which was the first Irish Cream, Carolans and St. Brendan's. It can be served on its own or used in mixed drinks or as part of a shot.

Irish cream is sometimes confused with Irish coffee, but the two are unrelated outside of their alcoholic content.

Baileys Irish Cream (the registered trade mark omits the apostrophe), is an Irish whiskey and cream based liqueur, made by R. A. Bailey & Co. of Dublin, Ireland. The trademark is currently owned by Diageo. It has a declared alcohol content of 17% alcohol by volume.
