Blog EntryBOURBON: SOUTHERN COMFORT FOR SALESep 13, '07 12:35 AM
for everyone

Southern Comfort
is a fruit, spice, and whiskey flavored liqueur produced since 1874. It is made from a secret blend of whiskey, peach brandy, orange, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon flavors.

Southern Comfort was first produced by Irish bartender Martin Wilkes Heron (b. 1850 c. 1920), the son of a boat-builder, at McCauley’s tavern at the corner of Richard and St. Peter Street, in French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1889, patented his famous creation, and began selling it in sealed bottles with the slogan "None Genuine But Mine" and "Two per customer. No Gentleman would ask for more." Southern Comfort won the gold medal at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.

Blog EntryASSORTED SPANISH BRANDY FOR SALESep 13, '07 12:21 AM
for everyone
The word Brandy comes from the Dutch word brandewijn, ("burnt wine"), which is how the straightforward Dutch traders who introduced it to Northern Europe from Southern France and Spain in the 16th century described wine that had been "burnt," or boiled, in order to distill it. The origins of Brandy can be traced back to the expanding Moslem Mediterranean states in the 7th and 8th centuries. Arab alchemists experimented with distilling grapes and other fruits in order to make medicinal spirits. Their knowledge and techniques soon spread beyond the borders of Islam, with grape Brandy production appearing in Spain and probably Ireland (via missionary monks) by the end of the 8th century. Brandy, in its broadest definition, is a spirit made from fruit juice or fruit pulp and skin. More specifically, it is broken down into three basic groupings.

Blog EntrySPANISH BRANDY: FUNDADOR FOR SALESep 13, '07 12:11 AM
for everyone
Fundador means 'Founder' in Spanish. This is an apt name because it was the first brand to be marketed as a 'Brandy de Jerez' way back in 1874. Today it is sold in more than 30 countries and enjoyed by millions.

Wine has been made in the Jerez region of Spain for more than 3,000 years. The distillers' art arrived comparatively recently - with the Moors who reached Andalucia in the eighth century.

Fundador is Spain's largest export brandy, aged in the traditional solera system. Sherry-soaked barrels give the brandy its distinctive taste and warm colour.

The brandy is obtained from grape distillate and then aged in butts of American oak which have previously been used in the ageing of Sherry wines. The ageing system used is known as the Solera system,(fractional blending) which consists of a continuous mix of young brandies with older ones resulting in a brandy of consistent quality.

Tequila Rose
is a Mexican cream liqueur. It is a mixture of strawberry cream liqueur and tequila. The tequila is very subtle and really only gives a spirit flavor to the liqueur. The strawberry and cream flavors are predominate and this tastes more like a strawberry milkshake than a tequila based liqueur.

Blog EntryASSORTED GIN FOR SALESep 12, '07 3:48 AM
for everyone

Gin and its Lowlands cousin Genever (Jenever in Belgium) are white spirits that are flavored with juniper berries and so-called botanicals (a varied assortment of herbs and spices). The spirit base of Gin is primarily grain (usually wheat or rye), which results in a light-bodied spirit.

Low-quality "compound" gins are made by simply mixing the base spirit with juniper and botanical extracts. Mass-market gins are produced by soaking juniper berries and botanicals in the base spirit and then redistilling the mixture.

Top-quality gins and genevers are flavored in a unique manner. After one or more distillations the base spirit is redistilled one last time. During this final distillation the alcohol vapor wafts through a chamber in which the dried juniper berries and botanicals are suspended. The vapor gently extracts aromatic and flavoring oils and compounds from the berries and spices as it travels through the chamber on its way to the condenser. The resulting flavored spirit has a noticeable degree of complexity.
