Stolichnaya
(Russian: Столичная: "capital (vodka)", stress on "lich" pronounced like "teach") is a Russian vodka produced from wheat and rye grains in Tambov, a town located in the Black Earth Region of Russia.

This region has long been known as the bread-basket of Russia and has a long history of growing grain and vodka production. It's this blend of grain that gives Stolichnaya its spicy finish, something particular to Russian vodkas.

Blog EntryASSORTED SPANISH BRANDY FOR SALESep 13, '07 12:21 AM
for everyone
The word Brandy comes from the Dutch word brandewijn, ("burnt wine"), which is how the straightforward Dutch traders who introduced it to Northern Europe from Southern France and Spain in the 16th century described wine that had been "burnt," or boiled, in order to distill it. The origins of Brandy can be traced back to the expanding Moslem Mediterranean states in the 7th and 8th centuries. Arab alchemists experimented with distilling grapes and other fruits in order to make medicinal spirits. Their knowledge and techniques soon spread beyond the borders of Islam, with grape Brandy production appearing in Spain and probably Ireland (via missionary monks) by the end of the 8th century. Brandy, in its broadest definition, is a spirit made from fruit juice or fruit pulp and skin. More specifically, it is broken down into three basic groupings.

Fundador means 'Founder' in Spanish. This is an apt name because it was the first brand to be marketed as a 'Brandy de Jerez' way back in 1874. Today it is sold in more than 30 countries and enjoyed by millions.

Wine has been made in the Jerez region of Spain for more than 3,000 years. The distillers' art arrived comparatively recently - with the Moors who reached Andalucia in the eighth century.

Fundador is Spain's largest export brandy, aged in the traditional solera system. Sherry-soaked barrels give the brandy its distinctive taste and warm colour.

Tequila is a Mexican liquor distilled from the fermented juices obtained from the hearts of blue agave plants grown in the Tequila Region. The liquor gets its name from the town of Tequila located in the state of Jalisco where production started more than 200 years ago.

The blue agave (agave azul tequilana weber) has long bluish green spiny leaves with

sharp points and a large heart (called piña or pineapple) from which the juices are extracted and then distilled twice. One liter of distilled tequila requires between 6 and 8 kilos of agave pulp. Tequila is not distilled from pulque nor is it produced from any cactus.

Tequila is famous around the world for its unique taste and bouquet and it is also the great mixer used in Margaritas that have become one of the most popular cocktails ever.

Blog EntryASSORTED SCOTCH/WHISKY FOR SALESep 12, '07 2:22 AM

Whisky has been produced in Scotland for hundreds of years. It is generally agreed that monks brought distillation with them along with Christianity in the fourth and fifth centuries. The first taxes on whisky production were imposed in 1644, causing a rise in illicit whisky distilling in the country. Around 1780, there were about 8 legal distilleries and 400 illegal ones. In 1823, Parliament eased restrictions on licensed distilleries with the "Excise Act", while at the same time making it harder for the illegal stills to operate, thereby ushering in the modern era of Scotch production. Two events helped the increase of whisky's popularity: first, a new production process was introduced in 1831 called Coffey or Patent Still; the whisky produced with this process was less intense and smoother. Second, the Phylloxera beetle destroyed wine and cognac production in France in 1880.

Blog EntryCOGNAC: MARTELL FOR SALESep 11, '07 12:06 PM
for everyone

Martell is a leading manufacturer of Cognac, founded by Jean Martell in 1715. It was sold in 1988 by the Firino-Martell family to Seagram and again in 2002 to the Pernod Ricard Group, which also owns the Cognac brands Biscuit and Renault.

The cellar master was, up to the 1980s, from the family Chapeau (in the way the cellar masters of Hennessy are from the family Fillioux).

Martell attaches importance to produce pure, soft, neutral Cognacs; thus it does not distill lees in the wine. Preferred are casks made from Tronçais oak, which is darker, with narrow pores, less tannin and more lignin, than Limousin-oak, resulting in less "wooden" aromas in the Cognac.

Much of Martell Cognac is produced from wine from the Borderies region, in contrast to other companies, which mainly sell fine Champagne Cognac. Borderies Cognac has a more nutty taste.
